Unit Group field Locked on Product

HI All,

It seems for years that the Unit Group field has been locked on Product and is one of the few fields that just can't be changed.  I've read this in formal documentation and blogs.  But no one can explain why.  Does anyone know why this must be locked down by default?  It seems illogical that you can't change a Unit Group (and corresponding Unit).  Does anyone have this answer?  And is there any way at all to get around it?

Thanks!

    Hi,

We analyzed the information you provided and as you described, the /Unit Group/ field cannot be modified once the record in the /Product/ entity has been created.

We have tried to update the records in the Dataverse Product entity directly using SQL4 CDS and are prompted with the message /Once the record is created the field cannot be changed/.

So we think this is a product design feature, probably designed to ensure data security. We don't think you will be able to change this field using out of the box functionality, perhaps you can use a third party plugin to meet your needs.
