AX license usage

We have one ax 2012 R3 license for my current company and our sister company decide to use AX to replace the current ERP they have, is it possible for both companies to use the same license? or the sister company has to buy another license on their own?

Hello Wifi spot,

Your license should be valid for all companies that you create in a single instance.

Even if you create a new legal entity there should be no issue.

Hi, Ludwig

Thanks for your replying, We have two companies and both of them share the same server. We have installed the AX on the server, and only one of the company currently uses the AX, so could we extend the usage of AX to the second company? if so, should we installed another AX server for the company or we can have a second user group for the second company with a new SQL database?

Hi Wifi spot,

When the sister company is majority owned by the parent company, you can setup a second legal entity in the same instance. Note that the licenses are named user based. You have to ensure that all users will be licensed correctly.
