Disable Read Only on a Table

Posted on by 5

Hello!

I recently had users say adding a new entry to a table stopped working.  The add new button just spins a loading message.

I dug into it and I believe the issue is the issue is that the table is set to read only mode.  I've dug around online and tried to find the option in power apps but can't find the option to disable this.

I'm the only one with administrative access to our Dynamics 365 environment so I don't know how or why this got changed.  Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Displayed error: "Data in this table is read only. Please go directly to the activity you want to edit."

    Hello Leco Lv

    Hi tzam,

I found the same problem in my environment, which should not be related to read-only tables. Have you and the user both updated to wave2? If yes, try the following steps.

1.Try changing the setting to off according to the path. (Power platform admin center->Environments->settings->product->features)

2.If you continue to keep this option On. Try edit this model-driven application to open it in classic mode.

Then edit the Entities and select all the activity type entities you want to use, save and publish.

Hello Amira Beldjilali and Leco Lv !

Amira, I'll need help answering those questions, it's been a while since I've touched this system.  Honestly there's only a few users still on the system and it hasn't been updated in about a year.  Loading the app gives a legacy app popup.  The table itself is called Activity and as far as I can tell, full rights are given.

Leco, Unfortunately it's happening to the system administrator account too.  Below are screenshots of what's happening.

    Hi tzam,

If you have the "system administrator" security role, have you tried to reproduce the problem for that user? Does this user have "write" access to the table? Just for tables, I don't think there is a setting to make a table read-only.

    Hello,

Can you clarify more the context? you are in a Dataverse form? is it a sub-grid in the form that you are not able to edit?

    can you provide some screenshots?

    Regards,

    Amira
