Modify fields in Financial Inquiry

I would like to know if there is a way to change what fields show when looking at a detail inquiry (Inquiry->Financial->Detail).  I would like to bring in the vendor name so I don't have select Journal entry and then source document to get at that information.  I also tried to bring the Vendor name as a field in a smart list, but I wasn't able to find that as an option either.  Either option would make researching expenses much easier.

    Hi again,

    Here's what the window looks like that includes the additional fields:

    RE: Modify fields in Financial Inquiry

    Hi,

    The Financial Detail Inquiry window can definitely be modified to include the Vendor ID. As Mahmoud said, the field you need to add to the window is the Originating Master ID. I have modified this window, and the GL Transaction entry window, many times so that it included this information.

    I am happy to share the package file of my modified windows with you if you are interested in making that kind of change.

    Please e-mail me directly to leslievail@earthlink.net if you would like the package file. I will not be monitoring this post, so adding a reply to the post will not cause me to send you the file (because I will not see it).;

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    I do believe you could consider another solution for this specific requirement, instead of modifying the "Financial Detail Inquiry" which includes all journal entries originating from all Dynamics GP modules, you can create a separate report to be added into any of the vendors inquiries. Something like "Vendor Ledger Statement", so when you go to vendor inquiry, clicking on this add-on shall generate all related transactions for this specific vendor along with the journal entry.

    You may check MVP Victoria script as a start, which shows SQL view for Payables invoices originating from POP in Dynamics GP

    As for the Smart List, in case you are talking about the "Account Transactions" smart list, there is a field (Originating Master ID), which retrieve the ID of the master entity, either vendor, customer ..etc

    Your feedback is highly appreciated,
