    VS Label has been change message
    Hi,

    I too had faced the similar issue - This dialog box will show whenever the other user is modifying the same label files. It will ask you to get the changes as made by the user - Once you click on ok it will get the changes done by the other user. If you click on No changes made by the user will not reflect and it will create inconsistency in label files.
    I would suggest you to create or modify label files at one user at a time. If multiple user is changing the label file at same time this error will be shown.

    Thanks,
    Girish S.

    Hi Martin,
    It's okay, I've only been working for Microsoft Dynamic for two months, and I understand that your duties are similar to forum administrators, so I'm trying not to cause trouble to anyone, I'm trying to find simple cases to do. Because of this virtual machine, I can only solve problems through Google search and F&O's official documentation, but cannot install applications, which is very inconvenient for solving customer problems. I'm sorry if I trouble you again in the future.
    Best regards,
    Kevin

    Ah, sorry, maybe I was too fast in judging. I thought it's a different dialog - there is one specific to F&O label editor (where ideas about VS in general wouldn't apply). My apologies.

    Hi Martin,
    Have you tried the methods mentioned in the link? Because I found a lot of posts similar to this, like this one: Visual Studio 2012 constantly complaining that a file has been modified outside of the source editor - Stack Overflow. Because of a virtual machine issue, I can't install an app like Visual Studio for testing.
    Best regards,
    Kevin

    Kevin's answers has (again) nothing to do with the topic.

    But I don't know how to get rid of these dialogs either. It just happens when I modify the underlying text file directly instead of going through the label editor.

    Hi,
    I think this may be due to the lack of some settings. You can refer to this article, which introduces two methods to avoid so many pop-ups again, both are under the Documents Options. Stop Visual Studio asking for each project: has been modified outside the environment. Do you wish to reload? - Stack Overflow:
    • Tools -> Options
    • Environment -> Documents

    The first option is to just uncheck "Detect when files changed outside the environment". This will stop the reload dialog but will force you to manually reload.

    The second option just below it is a bit better "Auto-load changes, if saved". This will just automatically load the changes without prompting you for every project.

    Personally though I would go a slightly different route here. The problem is occuring because your managing your source code control outside of Visual Studio. If you switched to using an addin to manage within Visual Studio it would remove these problems altogether. For svn there are several free packages available including Ankhsvn which is fairly popular.

    Best regards,
    Kevin
