How do we sset up scanning into Document Attach 2.0 in GP2015R2?

Has anyone been able to light up the Scan button in the Document Attach 2.0 window and use the Scan feature? I know we are supposed to use a Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) compliant printer but how do you find out if your printer/scanner qualifies or if WIA drivers are available? The list published by Microsoft is OLD. In addition, I found the Windows Image Acquisition service on my Windows 7 clients but not on Windows Server 2012 where I host my terminal server clients. Can the WIS service be added to WS 2012? Would love to see step by step instructions on this.

I have a couple of clients using this and as far as I know they just plugged the scanner in, installed drivers and started GP.
