newly created solution is missing components

I have a managed solution having our customization which I have to update to include changes related to the upgrade to 2013. Since I don't have the unmanaged version, I can't simply update creating a solution with the same publisher and different version. So I created a different publisher and created a new unmanaged solution adding existing components. I added all dependencies the system warned me about and then exported solution first as unmanaged, then as managed.

The resulting zip file, however, is missing all components which have not been recently changed, and they are listed in "Missing dependencies" section in the solution.xml file. Obviously, import of this solution won't work.

What did I do wrong, and what should I do to create a solution which would include all customized components and, therefore, could be successfully imported into a bradn-new organization not having our previous solution?

Thanks a lot for your help,

oab

You would still need to install the managed solution first. The unmanaged solution you created will only have the differences to the managed solution in it.

What about new clients who don't have the original solution installed? They won't like the idea of importing two solutions. Surely it must be a way of creating a clean brand-new solution which would not depend on prior versions?

Yes there is. Using the unmanaged solution. Without it you're stuck.

You mean the unmanaged version of the original solution right? Then I can use the same publisher for the new one and upgrade it using a new version? Is that the only option?

Yes, you definitely need the Original unmanaged solution.

We are trying to export/import the managed first to a new CRM but the error is the same Insist that we enable those required components. Manage/Unmananed import gives us the same error.asfsd.PNG

can you tell us what we are doing wrong?

exported managed then imported managed only same error.

exported unmanaged then imported the unmanaged same error.
