How to expand Business unit number

Hello,

I'm introducing to Dynamics AX7. I have a question about Business unit number in Operating units.

  Business unit number has 8 digit now, I want to expand 10 digit. It needs to input by manual .

Do you know how to expand Business unit number ?

    Hi Minoru,

    What is the reason for expanding this field? It is part of a framework which will affect other related fields and variables.

    If you need to expand it, you have to customize it in Visual Studio. You can create an extension for the OMOperationUnitNumber data type.

    Hello Calavon,

    Thank you for reply. Client's currently system has department number's 10 digit .

    I hear that AX2012  is able to expand Business unit number from System administration > Setup > System > Modify data types.

    But AX7 does not has Modify data types.

    Hi Minoru,

    The reason why it is not available in AX7 is because the development environment is separated from the application. Modify data types did change the AOT properties and could be considered as a customization for this reason.

    So in AX7 you have to use Visual studio for achieving this requirement.
