Perhaps you were interested in adding additional columns to existing SmartList reports? If so, open the SmartList you wish to modify and click on the Columns Button,. This will open the Change Column Display window. Click on the Add button in the bottom left hand corner, and a list of available columns will be displayed. You can use the Find Next feature to enter text to find the column you're interested, in or browse through the columns.
You can use the up and down arrows in the Change Column Display window to change the order the columns are displayed in.
If the column you are looking for doesn't exist, then you are indeed looking to add a Field to a SmartList. If you need to do this, then you should take a look at SmartList Builder from eOne.
If you're on GP 2013 R2, SmartList Designer is also available to create new SmartLists, if you don't have SmartList Builder registered.
You can not add fields to existing SmartList reports. But, you can create your own smartlist with using existing one addition to your custom fields.
Note: As Nataraj said, all the standard GP smartlists are located under the view section of your SQL. Example, Receivables Transactions SmartList is available with the name of the view "ReceivablesTransactions".

It is not advisable to add new fields to existing smartlist report.
Based on the existing standard smart list report, create a new smartlist report through smart list builder with additional fields as a view to generate a customized smartlist report.
You can run\find the standard report through back end of each company database(s) view node.
