i need help with the below please

is it mandatory to have IFD for federation services to work between 2 foreign CRM environments

    i wanted to add that its CRM 2016 SP1, i understood from the link that i need both, one will not work, correct me if i am wrong

    Hi

    what if internet publishing is not required? there will be a VPN connection between the 2 environments, so they will be able to reach each other with no need of internet. in this case ADFS alone should work correct ?
