You could also try running a SQL Trace on the process while it is going:

If you need assistance with reading the trace results I would recommend you contact your Microsoft Partner.
Other things we check for performance issues is if there are any 3rd party products running that could be slowing things down. If there are try disabling them in the Dynamics.set file and then see if the report prints faster:

One more thing to check is if the Historical Stock Status report is modified. We see many performance issues with reports that are due to modifications that are incorrect or when a customer is trying to run a modified report from a prior version of GP. Since table structure has changed between version this can sometimes cause issues as well.
If the above does not help I would recommend opening a support incident so that an engineer can look into the issue in more detail.

Is the company running this report heavy processing inventory transactions? have you noticed any performance issues with other detailed inventory reports?
Sometimes GP appears to be hung up, but if you review the process with task manager > performance monitor it might be still working for you, or trace the sql server for activity, as those are points where you can definitely determine if the app is hung or not.
Also have you tried running the same report as summary? if so, does it delay as well?
