Patch Installation Failing

I am on Windows Server 2003 attempting to eecute a fairly minor patch.  I am receiving the error..

'This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you cqan access it, or contact the applciation vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package.'

I am logged in as the local system administrator and have access to all drives and folders. the patch downloaded sucessfully and the verify completed sucessfully , so it appears to be valid.

If I attempt to execute on my personal desktop (an XP machine where there is no general Dynamics application installed), it correctly tells me there is no General Dynamics application.

I've checked group policies (but I am primarily a DBA) and cannot see any restrictions that I believe should be stopping the execution. Are you aware of a specific set of circumstances or settings that cause this error to be received?

    Hello Flora.

Is it a Rollup installation? It seems the Windows Installer files are missing from c:\<windir>\installer folder.

In order to recreate them, you will have to check the .msp installation log and copy the required .msp and .msi files to the installer folder. Afterwards, rename to the approppriate .msi and .msp randomic name.

I obtained the missing file names from the log file and am heading to the blog now for the rest of the procedure. Thank you for your help.
