General Journal Templates error

Posted on by 145

Hi all,

We have a user (and it only appears to be affecting them) that gets the error "Name must have a value in Gen. Journal Batch: Journal Template Name=GENERAL, Name =. It cannot be zero or empty" when they try and create a new journal template. But the issue is that she gets this error prior to being able to actually enter anything into the browser. You can see in the screenshot below that there seems to be an underscore in the next box, which I presume is what's causing the issue, but whatever we do we cannot edit the line to get rid of it! Worth also noting that this user has been able to previously do this, so not sure what could have changed?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi Ben,

If you are still having problems with this I would recommend opening a support ticket with Microsoft via your Solution Provider or Business Central Partner.

Hey Steve. This did indeed allow me to delete the erroneus _ record, but users are still seeing it (and subsequently getting the error in the original post) when trying to add a new gen journal template.

    Ben,

Search for General Journal Templates. Then highlight General and then click Related/Template/Batches. You should see the blank line and delete it.

Unfortunately, the error message/popup box comes up before we are able to delete the last line!

    Ben,

Your pic shows the Last line is Template = General and Name = Blank. Have you tried to delete the last line?

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Ben,

Try to export Gen. Journal template (table:80) from Config packages (Rapid start), then check it out whether you can see that empty line. Might be stucked something in that line.

    Let me know the result!

    Cheers,

    Pal
