Business Portal for GP2013 Install issue.

Hi All,

When installing/upgrading Business Portal for GP2013 I get the error below:

The business portal data in the database is not compatible with this version of business portal.

I have followed all the steps in the link below:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924183

I am still getting the issue though.

The install is on a fresh server and I am trying to upgrade from Business Portal 4.0 (GP10)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Best regards,

Anthony.

    Anthony,

If you look in the DYNAMICS..MbfInstalledDatabases table, what versions do you see there?  Do you want to do an actual upgrade, or are you looking to start fresh?

    Thanks

    Rob

Please check the SQL server compatabilty for Business portal 2013 and also check the prereuesite for BP 2013.

    Hi Bob,

    Thanks for the reply.

In that table all companies are at:

    Ver_Major: 4  Ver_Minor: 0 Build_Number: 2389

    DYNAMICS Business Framework Ver_Major: 1  Ver_Minor: 2 Build_Number: 50447

I would be happy to start fresh.

    Thanks and regards,

    Anthony

    Anthony,

I'm surprised that you're getting that message when trying to upgrade from that version of BP...  If you would like to pursue that further, I'd suggest opening a case with support.

When you start fresh, you'll lose all UI customizations and all user configuration.  You'll have to re-enter all your users and get them set up again.  If that isn't an issue, you can remove all DYNAMICS..Mbf* sql tables and install to a fresh SharePoint site collection.

    Thanks

    Rob

The issue here was Anthony was on RTM for BP 4 and needed to be on SP2. I provided the steps in the case to start over with BP.

    Hello Jonathan

I'm having the same issue but I do not want to start over with BP, I followed that KB but still not working.

I upgraded from GP 10 to GP 2013 and it was successful. Do you what else I can do to fix that issue.

    Thanks

Why don't you want to start over? Do you have customizations that you don't want to lose or simply just don't want to redo security? If you are running into this exact error then the issue is with your BP version you are upgrading from. Have you checked that and made sure you are on Sp2 for BP 4?
