Create A New SQL User For GP

Dear All,

i Have GP 2016 & management reporter as well, installed with SA user on SQL 2012, now i need to create a new SQL User for GP instead of the sa User, i know i have to go through users and change the ODBC credentials, so i need to know the following please

What access privileges this SQL User needs and on which Databases.
Can i upgrade my SQL From 2012 to 2016 or there will be comparability issues ?

your help will be highly appreciated.

Hi MAllam,

You don't need to create a user directly in SQL. The Dynamics GP UI will create the SQL login for you if you are logged in with a user that has the relevant SQL permissions and the GP Poweruser role. For example sa or DYNSA.

To answer your question about upgrading SQL - Dynamics GP 2016 does support SQL 2016 however I would highly recommend you perform the upgrade on a test server first to make sure you achieve your desired result.
