Global Address Book - Address Setup: Building

(0) ShareShare

Hi everyone !

posting my question here as I can't find any info about my issue anywhere else :)

I'm generating a payment file and for certain type of payment and our bank is recommending to populate the tag <BldgNb> = Building Number,. More precisely the Format Designer for the corresponding file in ER is showing String = @.Creditor.PostalAddress.BuildingNumber

I understand it's just grabing the building number in the Address Book (we're using Global Address Book).

With the current setup I can't see any field "building number" in addresses

I then had a look at the Address Setup where we can define the address format but I understand this is just the way addresses are displayed: sequence field displayed etc...

I noted that I was even able to find fields Building and Building number in address format setup so that I can dsplay them but again that's just the display format.

So in short my question is: where can I populate Building and/or building number. ?

Thanks

Yann

    Hi Yann,

I never heard that a German bank requires the building number in the payment file.

The building number is usually not something that we use in German in the address field.

Can you please double check with your bank for what purpose they need this information.

    Never heard that.

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

thanks for your answer. I'll double check the purpose of this recommendation, not something mandatory in any case hopefully.

Just for the sake of clarity this is coming from a SWISS bank not a German one. The setup shown in the screenshot is the creditor, the payment file is sent to OUR bank, the debitor bank, a Swiss Bank :). The format used is the ISO20022 (CH).

Apart from that I find it weird to have a tag <BldgNb> in an Electronic Reporting standard format provided by Microsoft without being able to find the corresponding field anywhere in the system, so out of curiosity I wanted to know if anyone heard about it ;)

    Cheers

    Yann

    Hi Yann,

If you need the building number, the correct option is to modify or add an address format. You can setup the formats to include the building number in the formatted address or if it is just data entry only. At least when the building number is enabled in the address format, you can use and map it.

Is it mandatory to have a value in this building number field or do you only need a node in the payment file to meet the requirements?

    Hello Yann,

Double checked the Swiss ISO20022 format that has indeed a mapping for the building.

The problem is that you cannot fill this field if it is not included in your address format and the standard address format for Switzerland does not have the building number included.

If your bank really wants to have that information on the building number you would have to adjust the address format and update all of your vendor addresses.

That can, however, involve a lot of work.

Before investing the time and effort, I would give your bank a call and ask for details whether this is really a mandatory information needed to execute the transaction.

As I mentioned before, I have not seen this being used and being an issue in Germany and Switzerland so far.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi André,

thanks for your answer, much appreciated.

Actually I just need a node >bldgNb> to be populated with the Building Number , so you're totally right André, no need to have the Building Number populated.

    Best regards

    Hi Ludwig,

many thanks for that. I fully agree with you and I'll follow your advice. This would really represent a lot of work, so I'll first have a call with my technical contact at the bank and see with him whether this info can be skipped or not.

Thanks again for your prompt replies Ludwig, Always helpful.

    Best regards

    Yann
