Moving from Real world to Great Plains 2010

Posted on by 60

Hi all:

I have taken on the task of moving my company's accounts from real world too great plains.  This company is currently running most of its account function in Real world but they are using great plains for Accounts Receivable and most of Inventory.

I am soliciting your help/recommendations for this integration.  This is what I have planned :

1.  Creat a new chart of Accounts and then modify the existing chart of account to reflect this new chart of acounts.

2.  Post all outstanding invoices individually in GP to update AP.  Can someone explain the set up requirement for this?  I read in the manual where I would need to unselect post to general ledger in posting set before this is done.

3.  Not all inventory is being maintained properly in GP.  How do I go about modifying these balances to reflect correct inventory balances.

5. Can someone tell me where I would go to enter beginning balances in bank reconciliaiton.

6.  I am going to use a journal enry to bring over Balance sheet totals fro the Trial balance in the old system.

HELP!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!

In prior years I did a few RW migrations to GP. I could try to find the old migration tools. If you go this way no data would be lost. If you want to merge into what your currently have in GP it becomes a manual process.
