Names reverting to default after weekend (user, price list)

Hello everyone,

I have a user whose default name was originally:

First: #

Last: John Doe

I updated the user to First: John Last: Doe, but after a while it reverts to the original "# John Doe". It has happened multiple times and seems to happen over the weekends.

Also, last Friday I changed the default price list name from "Default Price List - Sales" to "Standard Price List" and on Monday it reverted to its original name along with the # John Doe username.

Has anyone else had any experience with these types of issues? All the changes are saved and stay in effect for everyone in the organization for days, yet suddenly then revert to their original state. I don't understand why this would be happening and after a delayed period instead of causing immediate issues.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Christian,

Please refer to Kokulan's answner in https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/microsoft-dynamics-crm-forum/319480/user-with-sign-at-the-start-for-the-name

We have to go to Microsoft 365 admin center - Active users, find the user John Doe, and fill his First Name and Last Name.

If the user’s First Name in the Microsoft 365 admin center is empty, the corresponding user name in D365 will start with # and will be synchronized regularly. That is to say, even if you change the user’s name in D365, it will also start with #.

Thanks Hao! That was the problem.

To clarify for anyone else with this issue: The Display Name in the Active Users list is DIFFERENT from the Contact Name. The issue was the contact name was blank which isn't apparent from the active users list. You must open select user and click Manage Contact Information to see the first and last name information.
