Vendor 1099 Magnetic Media in Business Central

We have a client that ran the Vendor 1099 Magnetic Media to generate the electronic 1099 file. It generated the file, and they sent it to the IRS. The IRS rejected it because it waws missing the vendor names.
When reviewing the file, we found that any vendor name that was longer than 40 characters was replaced with 40 asterisks.
Publication 1220 by the IRS is the specifications for the Electronic Filling of 1099 forms, does state that the field for the names is 40 characters. The Vendor Name field in Business Central is much longer than 40 characters.
I am surprised that BC does not through an error or at least give a warning.
It would be nice if it gave an option to truncate the name at 40 characters. The client had to edit 160 vendor names to reduce them to 40 characters or less and re-generate the file.
When they resubmitted the file it was accepted.
Has anyone else run into this situation? What is the best way to handle this, so it does not happen in the future?
