Strange Server 2012 R2 Profile Issue

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We have been moving users into a domain environment. The DC is Server 2008R2 with Windows 10 Pro clients. We are running GP 2013 on a Server 2012R2 on several servers. All clients RDP into the GP servers to use the software. One of the users has an issue with GP crashing. He starts GP, enters his user name and password and the next window he selects a company and when he clicks OK it will crash after a few secs. We have added several other people to the domain after him and they do not have any issues. We thought maybe his profile on the server was corrupt so we deleted it and cleared it out of the registry to make sure if was completely gone. We them had him log back in and it created a new profile and we had the same issue. So we created a new AD account and logged in with that one and same results. We added him to a different server and GP worked fine. He came in today and his profile on the 2nd server is doing the same thing it did on the 1st server, crashes after selecting a company and clicking OK. We then thought it was a GP thing so we created him a new GP profile with the same results, crashing. We are going the below errors in the event viewer under application. These errors are popping up around the same time he is trying to log in. Both errors below are both servers he has had issues with.

RE: Strange Server 2012 R2 Profile Issue

The users has been using GP for several years. He is 1 of 4 people that have GP power user permissions. UAC is turned off on the server. All users have Modify permissions on the folder and all users have been using GP for several years. This all happened when we gave him a Windows 10 PC. We have been upgrading (doing fresh installs of Win 10 pro) our client machines to Win 10. All the client machines have a fresh install of Win 10 Pro, Office 2010, and Anti-virus (McAfee), nothing else have been installed or changed on the PC. Well except the privacy setting have been turned off on all PC's. Out of 30+ client machine that have been upgraded so far he is the only one that is having issues and we have done 8-10 upgrades since he started having issues, and nobody has had a problem.

Check UAC is off for the User, and full access rights to the GP2013 folder.
