ReportReport

Hi ,

I was just wondering if the replacement for management reporter will be power BI or Jet reports, or maybe another tool?

which one is meant for financial reporting : Balance sheet, P&L, cash flow etc

Thanks

Ola

    Hi Ola,

I'd be happy to kick this conversation off. Power BI is a fantastic data visualization tool and it's great for things like creating dashboards. We actually use it internally here at Jet Reports. However, if you're looking to build balance sheets, P&L's, and cash flows, you're not going to have much luck with Power BI as it lacks a structure of "rows" and "columns". You're going to be much better off using Jet Reports, which lives in Excel, for financial statements.

    Hope that helps!

Ola - have to agree with Anthony. One of our major clients dumped MR for its lack of flexibility for Jet Professional. They love how easy it is to create reports which is a far cry from MR.

    Hi Ola,

Although I hear good things about Jet Reports, I believe Management Reporter addresses a different need.

MR is particularly useful when your accounting structure is complex, when you use Analytical Accounting with multiple dimensions and dozens of Dimension codes in each, when you also use Analytical Accounting Budget Trees which are equally complex.

In those situations, MR is a godsend since it understands fully such structures and you don't have to understand or dig into the underlying SQL structure (which is complex and not intuitive in the case of AA).

Although it seems that MR will not be further enhanced, who cares as long as it's doing a good job for what it's meant to do.  I would assume Microsoft will still correct any bugs that might appear.

    Regards
