Error on phone "This part of the form can't be displayed. Please contact your administrator."

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Greetings!

We use Dynamics 365 8.2 online and are having an issue on our apple mobile phones/iPhones.

When the users attempt to navigate to My Activities, they get an error which says "This part of the form can't be displayed. Please contact your administrator." (Picture is attached here, although it isn't really helpful with no error code.)

I have read Frank Lee's wonderful post about this problem here . With his information I confirmed that our Activity entity does not have more than one default public view, and I have also confirmed that we don't have multiple default views for our Email, Task, or Appointment entities. I did find that we have two Default Public Views of Competitors which I will eventually remedy, but I'm thinking that is not the cause of our My Activities issue.

I have also tried the ideas suggested here in a recent post but the exact advice/link given was for CRM 2011. However, I did confirm that the forms in use are enabled for the user roles in question. These forms are also selected as the fallback for users without forms assigned.

I have confirmed that the tabs on the forms which needs to appear are "checked" to appear on mobile. And my users have the appropriate permissions to access the app on mobile; they see their Accounts, Opportunities, Contacts, etc. with no errors.

This error does not occur to me as a System Customizer or System Admin on an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy or iPad4 Mini.

Any other suggestions? What am I missing?

Thanks in Advance,

SwimRunfish

    Hi ,

Were you able to resolve this ?

I am a system admin and i am still getting this error in the mobile app, i also checked whether there are two default views and that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Please let me know how you resolved this if you were able to .

    Thanks

    Hi Tricia,

If you grant the affected users the System Admin / Sys Customizer role - does it work for them? Or, if you remove your Administrative permissions in CRM and use a similar security role as the affected users - do you see the same behavior?

This will help you confirm if this is security role related or not.

If it is security role related - then you could reach out to MS Support to get a detailed tracing - with regards to missing privileges.

If you are using custom security roles - to narrow down, you can also try with an out of the box security role (Salesperson for example) and see if it works with that. If it works with the SalesPerson - you can then compare the privileges from the Sales person to the ones of your custom security role and start adding the differences and see if that does the trick.

    Hope this helps!

    Radu
