Marketing form submission error; exception in creation of contact/lead

Hello,

Our customer has created a Dynamics marketing web form and when unknown contacts/leads fill out the form the submission says "Exception in creation of contact". It's a landingpage and it should only update existing contacts. What could be the cause of the problem?

Kind regards,

Sophie

Check also the Lead / Contact Form Matching Rules defined in the Marketing Form- nishantrana.me/.../

    Hi Nya,

This didn't do the trick for me as my setting are already set to the ones above. Do you have any other input? Thanks in advance.

    KR,

    Meghan

    Hi Sophie,

May I know the exact way you set up only updating existing contacts?

And since you have set this limit, shouldn't this prompt appear after the unknown contact has filled in the form?

The Landing Page is based on the Contact matching strategy to determine if a contact already exists, please check if the Contact matching strategy you have set is the one you need.

Here is a documentation about the matching: Configure form matching (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs

If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.

    Best Regards,

    Nya
