When i assign system administrator role to the Dynamics 365 trial instance , getting insufficient permissions error

RoleService::VerifyCallerPrivileges failed. "User 1" is trying to assign system administrator role to "User 2".

"User 1" must have system administrator role. Else insufficient permissions error will be thrown.

Do you have system administrator role assigned already?

I setup my trial instance, my userid doesnt have system administrator role assigned.

I tried to assign the system administrator role and it is giving error while assigning the role.

From office 365 admin portal, you can create / convert your user to administrator user. Try that.

we dont have office 365 admin portal, no o365 account

I am trying only dynamics 366 trial account now

If you have registered for a D365 trial, you will get to login to Microsoft 365 / Office 365 admin portal.

Navigate to https://portal.office.com

Enter the D365 trial credentials. (as you mentioned you created the trial, enter the same credentials)

You will see multiple apps. "Admin" will be on of the apps. Click on the apps and navigate to admin portal.

As you are the owner of the tenant, you should have Global Admin role. You can access Office Admin center and create a new user. You get some 25 license with Trail for 30 days.

Hi Partner

You can check by doing "Promote to Admin" for the selected user by navigating to Settings -> Security -> Users -> Select the user and select "Promote to Admin" from Ribbon.
