Assign dimensions to open Sales Orders

Hi,

I have a client with hundreds of open sales orders.

They would like to start assigning some code mandatory dimensions to their customers.

Is there a way to assign dimension values to open sales orders without manually clicking into each order?

I know a config package can be used to assign dimension values to customers. Can something similar be done for sales orders? It would take the client hours to manually assign a dimension and dimension value to each open sales order.

Drew,

You can use a Configuration Package but you have to make sure all the Sales Orders are Open for updating. If they are released, it will not work. Just create a config package and include the Dimensions in the package (Boolean). They you can update the Sales Order Header for the Dimension Values you need and import.

There is no standard functionality to do that. But it is pretty easy to develop a report or codeunit that updates the dimensions on the sales orders.
