Import of vendor contacts, addresses and relationships

Hi Everyone,

I am looking at some help in importing vendors (including different addresses & contacts) into AX. As such there are 2 types of contacts available and in addresses types also we have different remit to and locations which we want to import. Are there any standard packages available which tells you the sequence / dependences for different fields. vendors entity import works fine but the moment we want to import multiple contacts / addresses then we are not able to import.

Also how can we set/import the parent child relationships for vendors?

    Hi Andre,

Okay, I shall see how I get on.  I am making the assumption that both Customer and Vendor Contacts are stored in the ContactPerson table.

    Cheers.

    HI RH,

DMF would be the easier way. When using the Excel add-on, you have to define multiple tables and references. DMF is doing that job for you internally in the Contacts entity.

Can someone give me a definitive answer.  Can to Excel add on be used to add Vendor Contacts into AX 2012 R3.

Otherwise, DMF is my answer, correct?

    Cheers.

You can import multiple contacts by separating entries with a semi colon (or a separator you prefer - configurable) Basically on the vendor upload file, on the contacts fields (both name and actual contract information) enter multiple records and separate them with ";". Make sure that contact names and the actual contact information have the records separated in the same order

    Hi,

it would be really easy if you import vendors master data first. you can use DMF to do so.

Then you can import addresses &  contacts for each imported vendors. you can do that by using Excel add-in. There you should choose your vendor first, and then add as many as contacts with different purposes.

    Hi Thomas,

I don't think we can't import the same contacts to different customer accounts, In AX there is an unique location id for each contact. Have you tried assigning same location id to different customers?

    Thanks,

    Sangram

We import contacts from Microsoft Dynamics 365 into AX, but it appears that we cannot import the same contact into different customer accounts in AX via Dynamics 365. Is that correct? Is not importing the same contact twice a default behavior? And if so, can it be overridden?

You can import the party contacts using DirPartyContactEntity.

Is it still true that we cannot import multiple contacts for the vendors? Can't we achieve it through DirPartyContactEntity?
