Currency Exchange Rate Service - The Service URL field must not be blank.

Hi All.

We recently upgraded from V14 to V23 Cloud, trying to set up our exchange rate service and getting an error saying the URL is blank when it isn't.

The Service URL field must not be blank.

AL call stack:
/Curr. Exch. Rate Update Setup/(Table 1650).VerifyServiceURL line 3 - Base Application by Microsoft
/Curr. Exch. Rate Update Setup/(Table 1650)./Enabled - OnValidate/(Trigger) line 8 - Base Application by Microsoft

I've seen a similar post on here from a year or so ago but didn't provide any answers.

Can anyone provide any advice?

I have the same question (0)

What localization is your Business Central? And what is the service URL you're trying to use?

Hi, is this setting included in the old V14? I suggest you recreate it. In fact, what is displayed on the screen is a variable. The actual saved field is blob type, so the value will be inserted when validating.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

If you're using floatrates.com, your service URL needs to end in .xml, so your URL is not complete.

Below is an example of the setup in a company with CAD as the local currency, if you have a different local currency the URL would change. For example for USD, you would use the URL https://www.floatrates.com/daily/usd.xml

    And the transformation rule used:

Must be something I am doing wrong. For the life of me, I can't get the Caption field to show the correct names as per your screenshot.

    Just shows "Field Mapping"

I've even tried in a different sandbox subscription and it's the same thing. It's a user error on my part for sure.

you could check out the appsource in BC. it has some free apps for setting up exchange rate. it's way easier than set up manually.

ah sorry that screenshot is from a few versions ago of BC, maybe around V20. I just tested it now in V23 and the Caption field doesn't change, I didn't realize Microsoft made this change. The Source fields need to be modified. You also need the 1 in the Default Value field that I have in the screenshot. And create a transformation rule as well from my post below. This is what I have, and when I click on Preview it works for me:
