Hello everyone,
Our company just recently upgraded from GP 9.0 to GP 10.0. We have 1 company plus 2 test companies. After the upgrade, we only chose to upgrade our company database, but not the two test companies.
Now after everything has settled down, we decided to upgrade the two test companies; however those two never show up on the GP Utilities anymore (before they were there). Weirdly enough, when I login to GP, I could select these two companies. And then prompted that files for this company have not been updated.
Is there a way to look up these test companies in the database? I found that it should be stored into table Dynamics.SY01500 but for some reason such table doesn't exist in our Dynamics database...
Thanks in advanced for your help!
-Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,
Yes, you can bring the two test databases to the new SQL Server hosting GP10. However, this is only possible if the rest of the system tables (SY series) is not compromised as to the status of the 2 test databases in the production SQL server.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Dencio
Dencio, thanks for the reply :)
For some reason our table SY01500 magically reappeared... either I missed it earlier or a glitch in the table. It could be very troublesome to lose such important table..
I see that our two test companies use different database from our main company database. Do we probably need to bring these two databases over to the new GP SQL database server?
Thank you very much in clarifying this, greatly appreciate it!!

Hi Elizabeth,
DYNAMICS.SY01500 is the company master and GP client cannot login to GP companies if this is missing. This is the same record you can see when you successfully login as a valid GP user and you are selecting which companies you opted to use. Thus, your production company and 2 test company records is in this table.
If before you can see the 2 test companies in the GP utilities as requiring upgrade and now it's not, then someone else must have resumed upgrading these two companies but failed based on your statement "when I login to GP, I could select these two companies. And then prompted that files for this company have not been updated". In addition, DYNAMICS.DB_Upgrade may have been compromised (manually updated) for some reason. If you still want to proceed upgrading these test companies you'll have to revert back the manual updates that have been done on DYNAMICS database before launching GP utilities to initiate upgrade.
Lastly, if the data in these two test companies are not that critical, delete the two test companies within GP, drop the databases in SQL, create the companies again in GP and restore a backup of your production company to these newly created test companies.
Let us know how you go!
Cheers,
Dencio
