GP 2010 SP3 Install fails without error message

I am attempting to install GP 2010 SP3 on Windows Server 2012 64 bit. I am logged in with credentials that have admin privileges and Report Server admin privileges. The installer loads, the progress bar goes from 1 to 100%, then the installer closes with no error or success message. No upgrade was performed and GP is still at SP2, but functions correctly. Any thoughts of what is wrong or how I can perhaps monitor what happens when it runs?

All, thank you for the suggestions. I'm not sure what dark forces were at work, but after several tries, I eventually got the service pack to install, but there were additional complications. The differences between the last time I tried to run it and it failed and the time it ran to completion were that:

    1. I verified that all users were out of GP using the User Activity utility. There was a user that showed as being logged in to the test database for several weeks. I suspect they just logged out of remote desktop with GP open.

    2. I rebooted the server.

    3. I logged in using my local admin account (the one used to install GP before the server was added to the AD domain.

The install ran to completion, and loading GP utilities, the DYNAMICS database all the individual company databases upgraded with no error messages. However, upon loading GP for the first time I received several missing dictionary error messages, and eventually a fatal message about a 3rd party add-in (SmartList Builder) which crashed GP. They were no longer licensed for SmartList builder.

I ended up backing up the database again, so I had a pre and post upgrade copy. I then wiped GP, reinstalled, created a blank company, restored the post upgrade database over the new blank, ran a few scripts from PartnerSource, then loaded GP and reloaded the users and security settings. Everything is working now.

Ultimately, reinstall solved it, though I can't say there weren't other fixes that may have been less heavy handed.

Actually Soma if the SP is not being applied there would be no reason to log into GP Utilities as your GP code would not be update. Trust me a reinstall needs to be done as there is probably something in the registry that needs to be laid down again. I have seen this many times before.

Reinstallation is not necessary. Open GP utility and try to upgrade the GP database. If this not solved your problem, you need to reinstall GP. After installation completed, open GP utilities to upgrade your database and then lunch GP.

Note: Before following above steps make a back up of company and sys databases.

    Hope this helps!!!

Jonathan,  thank you for the suggestions.  There is no right-click option to Run as Administrator, but I do have admin privileges. I'm certain it is failing, as the "About Dynamics GP" option under help indicates that it is still at SP2 after running the upgrade. Usually, after a service pack is applied, I have to load GP Utilities, and it performs upgrades to the company databases. It did not do that with SP3. I hate to do a reinstall, but will if necessary.

Are you sure it is failing? There is no 'successful' message when it installs successfully. Have you try applying it again? Right clicked on msp and select Run as Admin? Could be damaged code, try uninstalling and reinstalling.
