Dynamics GP Word Add-in

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

It appears that the Word Add-In is profile specific.  Is there a way to enable for additional windows profiles without installing the Add-In under each needed user?

Login as the user who have this issue.

Run  as Administrator and repair MDGP2015_RTM_DVD_ENUS\AdProd\BITemplateMapping\bin\Microsoft_Dynamics_GP_BusinessIntelligence_BITemplateMapping_v14_x86_en-us.msi

    Thanks Dave,

Now I understand why I haven't had a problem; I'm the only one that modifies the templates :)

    Dave,

Thanks for the response.  I understand that the add-in is not required to use the templates.  In our case, we often have multiple members of the team that need to make modifications to the templates and therefore it needs to be installed for each of those users.  I don't like your response but I understand going forward.

    Thank you, Brian

Brian,  This is correct, the MS Word Add in will only be available to the user profile that installed the Add in.  Keep in mind that you only need the Word Add in for modifying a template.  You don't need it for just using templates in gp, only for modifying.  So you may not need it for every user although it sounds like you do need it for more than one.  Your solution is the only way though, you have to install it for each user.

    Leslie,

Thanks for reaching out.  On a terminal server session, the Add-In will only be available to the person the performs the install of the Add-In.  Under another user profile the add-in is not available and you receive an error if you attempt to add the com add-in manually.  In a terminal server environment where multiple users need the add-in, the only way that I have found to date is to install the add-in under every user profile that needs the add-in.  In a larger environment, that can be more time consuming that it should be.

    Brian,

I haven't run into this. How does it manifest itself?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
