Restrict FRx column to MTD

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by

I would like to create an FRx report that compares current MTD data to prior year for the same period.  I know that I can restrict by using the Start and End Date column fields but the prior year would have to reflect the current system date rather than the entire period. I could go in and change the date restriction in the column layout but would like to eliminate manually changing. It would be ideal if I could specify the End Date as the current system date which would result in comparative data.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks,

Debi

Yes, that was my next option.  I've not created a complete financial statement in SRS but will give it a shot.  Thanks for your input!

Is the purpose of this wish to be able to go back at any time of the month and see what the numbers were.

Depending upon how much formatting you want, you could create a report in SRS that provides a day parameter. You would need to use derived tables in the query.

Yes, but ideally I would like for the user to be able to generate for any given date without having to change it.  The best scenario would be if current system date were an option.

If you enter 1 for the Start Date and 15 for the End date, the system will look at the Current Period and Fiscal Year cells for the year and month. So if you want the columns to show 9/1/08 to 9/15/08 and 9/1/09 to 9/15/09, you would have these columns:

    Prior Year MTD

    Fiscal Year = Base - 1
    Period Code = Base
    Start Date = 1
    End Date = 15

    Current Year MTD

    Fiscal Year = Base
    Period Code = Base
    Start Date = 1
    End Date = 15

Yes, except that it would be for partial months.  As an example, if it's Sept 15th I want to restrict the prior year to Sept 15th as well.

Do you just want to compare MTD amounts for this year to MTD amounts for the same period last year?

If so, you don't use dates. You change your base year as Base - 1. The Current Period/YTD row value should be "CUR".
