Dear all,

I need an assistance on business portal that running on share-point. If the password for the user that was used to do all the configurations as well as running all the services relating to SharePoint and business portal is changed, How will this compromise the running of business portal?.

My thoughts are that if the password changed for the account running the SharePoint and/or BP services, those services just wouldn't start, like any other service or application.

For Business Portal, there aren't really any service accounts as BP is simply an application running on a site collection of SharePoint. During the install  of BP, the only service accounts we're really entering info for is if you have Order Mgmt installed, there is an eConnect COM User account used, other than that, we're using the BusinessPortalUser proxy account which is simply a SQL login and then your own Windows accounts to login to BP, that's about it.

In regards to the SharePoint side, you'll most likely have more issues if those services stop running, which could potentially impact Business Portal.

    Thanks

    Derek,

I really appreciate your response on this issue.

Suppose one restarts all the services related to SharePoint after changing the AD passwords, will it come up.

I think if you go into SharePoint Central Administration, then browse to Security > General Security > Configure managed accounts, you can click the 'Edit' icon next to the user account(s) that had a password change or expire, and reset their passwords there as needed.

By resetting the passwords for the user accounts here, I think this will update them for SharePoint and allow the application and services to keep working as expected.
