No Permission to Post In-Transit Transfer

Hello,

We'd like an advise how to set the user security to allow posting In-Transit Transfer transactions.

User shouldn't be able to post any other inventory transactions such as inventory adjustment nor inventory transfer. However, they need to have an access to click "Ship" button to post the in-transit transfer.

I set the security, Series post permission for In-Transit Transfer. However, when I click "Ship" button, the pop up said "you don't have a permission to post."

Whatelse do I need to change in the security permission in order for the users to post In-Transit Transfer entries.

Thank you,

Jbserp

Which windows (the names not the tasks) did you have to grant security to in order for this to work?

    thanks!

    Thank you for your suggestion.

I finally figured out what I needed to do. I had to provide the user to allow permission to post inventory transaction, not transfer entry. Even if I gave the user to allow post inventory transactions, user was not able to access the inventory transaction entry window since I didn't allow them to access that window. So it worked.

I also needed to gave them to print posting journals, otherwise, no permission to print message kept pop up..

I used Debugger tool for first time, and it worked well.

But I just wanted to thank all of your suggested answers.

I would probably create a dexsql log as the user and look at that for further help.

Info on creating dexsql log support.microsoft.com/.../850996

An excellent response by Johnathan Fear that helped me troubleshoot a similar issue community.dynamics.com/.../105143.aspx.

    Good Luck!

    Hi Kirk,

I changed to allow posting to GL and tried to post In-Transit transaction, but it said I still do not have permission...

What's other possibilities can we think?

The transactions may need to post to the GL even if they are equal amounts in and out of the same account. Try allowing posting through to the GL and see if it resolves this issue.

    Hi Richard,

I checked the Setup > Posting > Inventory. For both Transfer Entry and In-Transit Entry, I have marked to allow posting by transactions. However, I unchecked to post to GL and post through GL because we don't need to post those transactions in GL.

This is the role for posting.  Did you allow posting rights to inventory in the Admin->Setup-Posting->Posting area?

    Thank you, Richard.

I allowed to post Inventory Transfer as well, but it still said "You don't have a permission to post."

What do you think I'm missing here...?

RE: No Permission to Post In-Transit Transfer

The "Ship" function in In-Transit Transfer is actually a posting process.  Items are removed from the sending site and transferred to the In-transit site (a temporary site holding items on the trucks).  If a user cannot post transfers, they cannot post ship.

Sorry.  You will either need to allow those users to post or let them save the transactions and have someone else ship them.
