Item no. not available on item card as field

Because we want to custumize some of our item no.'s out of the range we need the field <Item no.>

In our Sandbox envoirement this field is available but not in our LIVE envoirement, also not in 'personalisation'.

Changing from "Default" to "manual'  in no. Series has alsno not the desired effect.

Does anyone recognize this problem?  Please Advise!
