Showing a quickform field after first time save

Dear CRM experts,

Momenterally I am working on something that requires JavaScript. Untill this day I am but a beginner on JavaScript after customizing and configurating MS CRM for quite some years. I was wondering if someone can help me with this.

What I want is for a quick create form (or a dialogue box) to appear on a first time save to add a N:N related entity to a contact. in this case a custom entity named wh_contactrole. Now it would be fair enough if the contact was prefilled in this form along with the primary team of the owning business unit of the user. Now if a contact already has a related record for wh_contactrole I do not want the quickform to appear again.

Now I have found some examples but they are too complicated for me too understand and regard other entities. I am getting closer though but defenitely not near enough. Is this even possible?

Can anyone help me?

BR
Robert

    Hi,

there is no "simple" way with Javascript, and, yet, you've already found those examples..

As an alternative, you might try this:

    - Put a few required lookup fields on the form (probably just a single one - contact role)

    - Use them to populate your relationship through a workflow

Although, you will need that to be a custom N:N, not an out-of-the-box one (or you won't be able to use a workflow to populate the relationship)

    - Finally, add a business rule to hide those special fields once you have "createdon" populated (meaning, you only wnat to see those fields while creating a contact.. sort of "on the first save". After that, you don't need them there)

    Hi Alex,

Thank you very much for sharing your idea about this. I like the way you approach this!

You are are right I have found several Javascript ideas but because of my lack of knowledge they just dont do the trick. Your out-of-the-box way of thinkin is inspiring. Thanks very much.
