Install rapid migration tool on 64 bit or 32 bit for GP 2010?

Posted on by 5,990

Hi, we are about less than 5 GP 2010 AM users. we are looking to use rapid migration tool to migrate some QB data and also help with quick set up. I hope to get some answers for the HW and SW requirements.

I notice that rapid tools can only be installed on 32 bit hardware? Is it true?

We have 64 bit Win 2008 R2 where we are planning to install the Dynamics GP and have a SQL server either installed on a seperate machine 64 bit machine  or virtualize the single box to install SQL server 2008.

Please advise what will be best hardware requirements for GP application and SQL Server? Since Rapid tools require econnect, i presume web-services requirements needed to taken into account.  Thank you

Also, what will be best way to set up and install the GP 2010 AM?

Thanks. Do I need to have Quickbooks or peach tree installed on the same box where I install the GP and  Rapid tools in order to migrate data?

Correct, the Rapid tools for Dynamics GP 2010 can be used on 32- or 64-bit systems. It is the GP 10.0 version that is only compatible with 32-bit.

From what I understant, the Rapid Migration Tools for GP v2010 can be used on a 32 or 64 bit machine but the v10 Rapid Migration Tools were only available on 32 bit.

    From the download details:

    ...

Rapid Implementation Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010

    • 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems

    • Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 SP1 (build 1524 or later)

    • QuickBooks Pro (2003 - 2012), Premier (2003 - 2012) and Enterprise (3.0 - 12.0)

    • Peachtree (2009-2012) of Pro, Complete and Premium

    ...

For install and set-up, you can explore the Training Materials and E-Learning that are available through CustomerSource.  Course Number 80226 in Training Materials will provide what is needed for installation and configuration.  However, I would highly recommend working with your GP partner on install and configuration to make sure the system is set-up to the organization's requirements.

System Requirements can be found here on CustomerSource:
