Transfer GP to SQL Server 2012

Hi Everyone,

We are moving GP to another server in our organization.  I've found a really useful KB article (878449) with step-by-step instructions to do so.  Unfortunately, the capture_logins script found in the article hasn't been updated to accommodate SQL 2012.

Has anyone seen a 2012 version?

Thanks for the help.

Bill

I actually found the updated for SQL2012 KB Article (KB878449_Capture_Logins.sql) on support.microsoft.com works great! Thank you for your prompt response.

You were running that script against the Master DB right ?

I found in the past that was a common error.

Richard, when you reply to this thread, can post a link to the SQL2012 Script.

I ran your script in the link for sql2012 capture logins but it did not do anything that I know of.  Did it save a file somewhere? I have no results to copy and use on the new server to create logins.

The revised capture_logins script does work for SQL Server 2012. Thanks for this tip!

I can confirm that the previous capture login script does not work with SQL Server 2012 and the script mentioned in the link does work.

I am going to run the capture logins script I have later today on 2012 Server instance and see if I get the same results. This may be a learning moment as something may have changed.

The code in this link worked for 2012:

    sqlhog.blogspot.com/.../sphelprevlogin.html

Thanks Richard.  This is the result of the script:

    Invalid object name 'master..sysxlogins'.

Apparently this was dropped in 2012.

I am not aware of any change to the Create Login SQL command in SQL 2012 so the results of the capture login script should work.
