Cannot drill to GP2015 from Management Reporter 2012 CU12

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

When I try to drill back to GP2015 from MR Viewer, the icon turns grey and nothing happens. I have GP open. I am an administrator in MR, a Domain Admin and a PowerUser in GP. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Carolyn

. I was able to see the drill back to dynamics GP options when MR is deployed with Legacy method.

With legacy, the drill back to GP is only possible from the full client Report Viewer. And legacy drill back does not work with the web viewer which is working as designed.  In order to use drill back with legacy from Report Viewer, you must meet these requirements:

-MR and GP are installed on the same machine.

-You are logged directly into that machine (do not use published app or Citrix).

-GP is running and logged into the same company.

-MR report is generated with at least Financial & Account detail selected.

To drill back, you would do the following:

    -Generate the MR report.

-Drill down to the account level of the report. If not using a tree, this is only one level down. If using a tree, it will be more than one level down.

-Select a value in an FD column which will cause the Dynamics button to enable

RE: Cannot drill to GP2015 from Management Reporter 2012 CU12

    Hi Paul,

I don't know what it requires to make the drill-back work in the Web-Viewer, but it clearly doesn't work for me in CU15 & HF3...

The drill-back works fine from the full MR viewer client, using GP2015R2..  On the web side, I've tried both the IE 10.0 and IE 11.0 with the latest Silverlight version applied. None of them work : the small magic black corner doesn't show up when selecting a value in a report, but the same field works just fine in the full viewer.

I've tested iitially the Legacy connector only, but neither the Web nor the full viewer have a drill-back capability.  After installing the DataMart, the D-B became available in the full viewer client.

Would love to see someone from the Microsoft Reporting group answer this thread..

PS: in desperation I even installed Chrome to test the report.. but no luck.

EDIT: I actually removed and un-installed the DM connector, as well as the Legacy connector and re-installed only the Legacy connector. After connecting back with my GP2013R2 Test server, the MR viewer full client was able to drill-back too on the GL accounts in GP, according that I had already a GP session open and running in the proper company.. otherwise it fails (but this is expected). Sill no success with the Web client though.

The issue is a bug and is to be fixed in CU15 which was released on April 22nd.  This does work in you use the web viewer and are using the datamart to drill back to Dynamics GP.

    Legacy:
-Report Viewer: This currently does not work with GP2015. It has been written up as Bug 3623582.
-Web Viewer: Drilling to GP with the legacy provider is not supported in the Web Viewer.

    Data Mart:
-Report Viewer: This currently does not work with GP2015. It has been written up as Bug 3623582.
    -Web Viewer: This works.

    Msft support call;

Legacy is a known bug it will not drill back at all

Data Mart will only work when using web browser, ie. viewer will not drill back when using data mart

They claimed that this will be corrected in the next CU of MR likely within a month.

    Bill,

We had this issue before upgrading to CU13.

And we noticed that the Detail Enquiry Window opened minimised, GP Must be open.

Won't upgrade to CU14 in the near term!!

    Bill,

Fairly sure that in the MR about screen the number reflects the CU.

What we found is you must be on CU13 at least, and when you click on the data and select drilldown, the window opens minimized, so must select the detail enquiry window from the task bar.
