Is it Possible to Run Two Separate Instances of Business Portal?

Hello,

I'm hoping this is a quick and easy question.  We've been running BP 6.0 on GP2013 SP2 for several years (sorry, we cannot upgrade to R2 at this time).  We were only using the ESS function to this point but are now trying to implement Project Time & Expense.  We've encountered problems and exhausted ALL resources (developers, Microsoft, VAR, community posts, etc.) and cannot get it to work.  It appears the only possible solution is to completely re-install BP.  This is not an option for us.

So my question is... can we install Sharepoint/Business portal on a new server and have it host only PT&E?  I'm not an expert when it comes to either so I'm seeking advice.  I appreciate any input!

Thanks!

Jim

    Hello Jim,

I'm curious as to why you are not able to reinstall Business Portal if it isn't working? You can uninstall and reinstall BP without removing the database objects, i.e. reinstall only the BP code, which is probably what is damaged and causing the issues being seen?

Otherwise, have you looked into moving to Dynamics GP 2015/R2 and using the built-in Project Time & Expense functionality built into Workflow 2.0 and ESS functionality? This would allow you to still use Project T&E along with ESS, but without needing BP or SharePoint.

This also goes without mentioning there is no further Business Portal applications beyond BP 6.0 and BP 6.1 for Dynamics GP 2013, which is why we moved the BP and Workflow processing within the Dynamics GP 2013 R2 and Dynamics GP 2015 applications.

    Thanks,
