Is there anything besides safety lead time that will require that I make something 10 days early?
I have a customer who wants to order a blend of unique items and they are willing to wait the whole lead time it takes to make it, but they also require an additional 10 days for logistics.
For this reason, I can keep my items on lot-for-lot and give them my lead time + the 10 days they need for logistics as the delivery date, but the system will ask me to make the product just-in-time regardless.
I know I can use safety lead time on the item card to finish it early, but (a) this only updates the starting date on my production order so the due date does not change and for that reason it can still go late (i.e. they didn't start on time, but they did hit the due date, so it's not really /late/ to production) and (b) it would impact any orders for that item, not just for this customer. I don't want to finish production 10 days early every time I make the item; just when I make for this customer.
So this option is not ideal.
Are there any other options at my disposal?
