Is it possible to Upgrade to GP2013 English from GP2010 French?

Hi,

Any comments, warning, advice would be appreciate.

We have to upgrade to GP2013 English (that's what is actually available) but the actual server install is GP2010 French Canadian. Would this cause any problems?

Hi Sylvie,

Thanks for the question. Structurally there are no differences between an English and French Canadian install, so there should be no issues in upgrading to a different language version. This is because we store the different language information in dictionaries not in SQL.

The one thing that potentially can happen is that regional specific functions can be restricted to a specific language install. As an example you need to install an Australian install of GP to access Australian GST functionality.

What I suggest is that you perform the upgrade in the same language that is currently in use; French Canadian. After that you can then install an English client to a new folder then re-run the Utilities. This will add tables for any additional products needed for an English Canadian install.
