TMS load weight management

Hi,

I am wondering how the weight is calculated and managed on the load. Apparently the System net and gross weight is calculated based on the item weight settings. But is it assumed that the items tare weight included the weight of the wooden pallet. I looked into the load template that holds a field for equipment and stack on floor.  Checking the 'stack on floor' doesn't seem to change any of the weight calculation. The equipment appears to be a loading unit such as a semi trailer. I tried to use the equipment as pallet but the weight doesn't get added to the loads gross weight.

Any hint how the weight between stack on floor (tare weight is the weight of the cartons) and loaded on pallets or any other goods carrier is account for.

As usual thanks for your input!
