Fixed Asset Depreciation value not correct

Hi,

We run depreciation on a monthly basis in Dynamics 365 Finance. While running the depreciation proposal, I accidentally clicked the Cancel button. After that, when I tried to generate the depreciation journal again, the system started calculating depreciation with an incorrect credit amount of only 10 for all assets.

Could you please advise whether there are any temporary records or cache that need to be cleared?

Hi,

The depreciation proposal only calculates and displays the depreciation and it does not post anything unless we post. So, if you have cancelled the same it will not have any impact on the Remaining depreciation, or depreciation amount to be calculated.

Please re check the Depreciation period remaining, scrap value in the Fixed asset book and is there any filter applied on the Records to include section in the Depreciation proposal form.

Hi,

You are running the depreciation on 31st Dec 25, which is the same date as Acquisition date and placed in service date, try running depreciation for 31st Jan 26, the amount will change.

Moreover verify the Minimum depreciation amount in the Fixed asset parameter, it should be 10. i.e., why you are getting the depreciation amount as 10.

Hi Faqruddin,

As Aman stated above, depreciation for all the assets are coming as 10 because of the FA parameter setup. We had a similar situation during cutover data migration and when we removed the default 10 value from FA parameter it started calculating the depreciation perfectly. give it a try and let us know if it solved your issue or not.

Hi Aman,

I check for above asset the value is change for Jan. But we have strange situation in the system, system is not creating lines for all assets for depreciation proposal. I check one of the specific asset and try to create depreciation proposal, system is not creating entry completely. When generating the Depreciation Proposal for December, the system only reflects 750 assets and those 750 asset the depreciation value is correct, but total number of assets in the system we have 10000+ and system not created the entries for those assets.

Below one of the example System not created the entry. I pick randomly some assets to create depreciation but system not created any entry.

Hello,

The depreciation proposal isn’t posting any entries, which means it has no impact on future proposals.
It’s probably not related to the proposal itself — something else is going on.
Try the following steps:

- Close all unused journals to clean up the situation.
- Open one asset that should be proposed for depreciation in D365FO, but isn’t appearing.

Most likely, the "last depreciation date" has been pushed forward for some reason.
If that’s the case:
- Check the existing transactions to understand what happened,
- or directly modify/adjust the last depreciation date if appropriate.

From the profile, it looks like the system is calculating a depreciation amount.
