Backflushing location for WMS enabled bom lines

Hey experts,

I've a producing customer that uses warehouse management processes for both raw materials and finished goods.
They would like to skip reservations for their BOM lines and backflush materials when transaction = "on order" during report as finish.

They would like to add information with consumption location on the released products card but as far as I know the "default receipt/issue location" in Manage inventory -> Warehouse items is only for non-wms items?
WMS items needs to have a reservation transaction down to the location level coming either from the warehouse, resource group or resource right?

Has anyone experienced the same requirement and how did you solve it?

Best regards, Elias

    Hi,

After thoroughly analyzing the issue and based on the available information, without knowing the specific configurations made in the system, several settings can be applied to resolve it. The issue can be addressed by configuring the settings outlined below:

    • Set up automatic reservations so that materials are automatically reserved when the production order is Released or Started, and make sure that only the required amount of materials is reserved by allowing “partial reservations” (instead of reserving the full quantity from the BOM).

    • Go to Warehouse setting, and select your warehouse and on the FastTab named “Warehouse” in the Production Orders Field check the Backflush must use reserved quantities option.

    • Assign specific fixed warehouse locations for low-value components and configure a production consumption location for other components, ensuring materials are backflushed from the correct places.

    • Set the flushing principle to "Finish" in the Released Product page so that materials are backflushed automatically when the production order is completed.

    • Replenish the production consumption location using inventory movements or replenishments, instead of relying on the standard raw material picking process.

    • If needed, adjust the reservation logic to prioritize backflushing materials from a specific location, instead of using the default resource or production input locations.

Hopefully, these steps will help guide you toward a solution.

    Best Regards.

    Hi,

The problem is still related to the backflushing location not the actual configuration how to setup backflush generally or in what stage reservations should be done..
I wan't to trigger reservations against a specific location which is not the resource input location nor the warehouse production input location.

    Hi Elias,

Not sure if I understand the requirement but..

From my experience, you can select at which stage you want the materials to be reserved automatically. In this case, I would suggest to change the bom line 'reservation' field to 'Start', meaning that stock will always be reserved when you start the production order.

Then on the flushing principle field on the bom line, select 'finish' to backflush the materials. This parameter can also be set on the release product on the engineer tab.

    Thanks
    Marta

    Hi André,
    Thanks for your reply!

They don't wan't to reserve lines manually so we will need automatic reservations and what I know the system will always try to reserve the full quantity of the BOM lines even when they are doing partial releases. And this will cause issues because the material might be needed for other orders as well.

Some low value components are backflushed from the fixed location at the warehouse and some of them are flushed from a production consumption location (not per resource) which is being replenished by movements/replenishment and not the raw material picking work.

    Best regards, Elias

    Hi Elias,

When reading your question, it looks like your process is about consuming the goods automatically afterward, meaning that there is no specific pick and put for the BOM items for the production order.

Can you explain more about the process and why they don't want to use reservations? What do they do to get the BOM items from the warehouse to the production line?
