Hi:

What are the steps for configuring inventory items to advise the end user on low stock and upcoming order requirements?

Thank you!

John

    Hi John

Might be best to dig into this more. The "advise" part could be seen as ambiguous.

Here are my varying levels of suggestions:

    1. Use the "Reordering Policy" setting on an item and populate the relevant supporting fields. A user can then utilise the planning worksheet or requisition worksheet to advise when stock has hit a reorder point for example.

    2. Use Power Automate to setup a flow where when an item is modified it checks the current inventory level and then posts a message in Teams or sends an email to chosen recipients.

    3. Setup a notification based workflow in BC that checks the inventory and places a message on screen if the item is below a certain value in stock

If any of these suggestions are helpful I can provide more detail. Just need to know what avenue makes sense at this point.

    Cheers, Josh

    Hi Josh:

Wow!  These are all very good suggestions!

I especially wish that I knew more about Power Automate (Flow).

Regardless, if you have links to documentation or whatever on any of these three solutions, please let me know.

Thanks, again!  This is all very helpful!

    You're welcome sir.

    1. MS Learn is good for a more up to date learning experience however this blog sums up all the main detail: https://community.dynamics.com/nav/b/nav4construction/posts/inventory-planning-part-7-microsoft-dynamics-nav

    2. URL for learning some of the mechanics involved: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/power-automate/get-started-logic-flow Overall the documentation for BC on this topic isn't vast but there is a connector available for a decent cross section of the system. In the suggested example this is what I have as a flow structure:

    3. This is basic but might fit the bill. To do it I simply took an existing out of the box workflow and adjusted it to my needs:
