    I'm not sure what you want to hear. Platform and application are now managed separately and each of them has its own version. "Version" is a human-friendly label for a particular release; build is the technical build number.

    Note that I don't know what you mean by "nos".

    I mean how are these build numbers are  generated on what basis if I need to make understand to a newbie how do i do it as even I am not clear.

    how are these incremented

    Nos = numbers

    Don't try to assign any specific information to the build numbers. All communications should reference Platform, Application version, KB Numbers applied to your system.  The build numbers are generated by Microsoft build processes (as in multiple systems) as references for internal tools and engineering processes.

    Hi David,

    In lcs we have application binary updates x++ updates and addtional HFs, and our custom pacakges,

    if we apply any of this above mentioned mentioned updates which version will change platform or application or nothing will change

    My guess

    Binary update-> will change platform version

    x++/application update will change application version

    and HF and customer packages might change application versions?
