Hi guys,
I'm using downloadable VHD for my testing and learning quite a while, but now it keep notify me the Windows License will expire soon :
What to do with this ? and if I "Go to Settings", there is no information it will be expired.
Is there any due date? and what happen when it is expired ? will I forbidden to access all my learning ?
thanks,
Hi Andre,
Just what I needed. Solved. Thank you so much.
Hi ShaqAX,
The development VMs come with trial licenses for Windows Server and other Microsoft software. When you will not do anything, after license expiry, the VM will shut down automatically after 1 hour, repeatedly. You have three options:
With the first option, you will never be notified again. When creating a new VM, you will have the same challenge when the evaluation period ends. For the third option, you can read the next blog to extend the period for 180 days. This can be repeated several times: Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 Evaluation: How to extend the Trial Period – SID-500.COM
You can Always download a new VM to avoid the windows license thing.
When I say export, you are exporting your objects NOT the model folder in packagelocalDir...
In visual studio , to the following.
* Add all objects belonging to your cusom model in one project.
* Right click project and Export.
This is much safer in a situation where you loose access to your DevOps. By the time you have a new Dev environment, simply import your project and visual studio automatically creates the model and its model reference(s).

Hmm yeah I thought to ignore as well, but the pop up getting more intense like 30 minutes pop up again.
Anyway it is just I'm concern whether I will lost all my learning.
About the backup, yes I'm backing it up in my DevOps. But just for an info, I'm using all Trial License for all this learning "adventure". Now I'm afraid also whether later I will loose access to this DevOps.
For export, are you saying to export the project that I created for learning from Visual Studio ? I also thinking to export the model it self. But yes the thought that when I forgot to export, and then loose it all "haunted" me.
One thing that it is not trial (free) is only my account (email) which is a paid email address.
Thanks,
Hi ShaqAX ,
I do no think this should be an issue. You can ignore this message and if it eventually expires, you will still have access to your learning.
However, I advice you do take backup of your objects from time to time using version control. You can as well export your project(s).
