Messing up relationships between entities

Dear reader,

I’m running around in circles now, so maybe someone could give me a hand or direction?

Situation:

On entity Systemuser I created a synchronous workflow that runs on request only. All it does (should do) is copy a few fields from another record in another custom entity (let’s call it B). The relationship between Systemuser and B is 1:1.

So far, the fields that are copied, remain blank. This makes me suspect that the link/relationship between Systemuser and B isn’t quite as it should be. Yet I do get to select B in the dropdown on the workflow, probably since I created a one-to-many relationship from B to Systemuser. But obviously I’m making somekind of mistake.

How to setup the field/entity relationships correctly?

Thanks for thinking along with me.

Regards,

Jeroen

    Jeroen,

    1.  Update record, update entity A form (i.e) you have to set the entity B lookup value in entity A form using workflow.
    2. Now you have to update B entity and set the matching fields from entity A.

    Thanks,

    Vignesh Mohan

    Hi Vignesh,

thanks for your quick response. I'm afraid though that you'll have to walk me through a bit more.

In the main form A, I have a lookup to B. Does that cover your step 1.?

Next, how/where should I set 'matching fields'?

    thanks

    Jeroen

Create another step in workflow, choose  update record --> B entity and set the  value for corresponding fields from the dropdown.

Getting there (I guess). In this WF step (does it matter first or last step?) which field should I set to the corresponding field?

    Yep its matters...

First step is to set the lookup value..

Second step is your requirement, the fields you wanted to be copied. If my reply is not satisfying please dont hesitate to ask more questions ;-)

Your answer was completely satisfying! Thanks for your patience :)
