tracking appointments from Outlook using the dynamics 365 app for outlook by Executive Assistants

Posted on by 2,095

Hi guys

I've got a quick question. I'm testing the new Dynamics 365 app for Outlook and noticed that appointments organised by another CRM user can't be tracked to CRM by another user.

Could I ask whether there is any ways around this as for example an Executive Assistant with access to their Executive's diary can't track his appointments if he is also a user of CRM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Mike

View and Manage Appointments From Dynamics CRM Calendar

We have the perfect calendar plugin to go with your Dynamics CRM. A calendar that gives you an overview of the scheduled, ongoing, and completed activities of the whole team. Here’s how a fully-functioning calendar with all your tasks, appointments, service requests, etc. at one place looks.

    Hello,

I have the same question as this. I understand that the default way of doing this now is the 'Tracked in Dynamcs 365' Category as this allows the assistants to track appointments of those that they are managing. However, what this does not allow is the ability to choose where to track to. Is there a solution for this at all that you've come across please?

I got the information from our DSE saying this is enabled by default going forward. So no need of manual setting.

Ah that's the bummer. Any ideas why this is the case?

Looks like its not functional now & getting removed from the settings maybe.

I tried in latest Dynamics 365 April 2019 release, with Outlook client version 8.2.2.137

I have set that value to true, in Organization Settings Editor

It is not working, still same error.

    Hi all,

I've finally figured out how to resolve this issue. It was quite hidden in all the documentation for the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook.

You will need to update the Microsoft Database settings so that it allows for tracking of appointments not by the Organiser. To do this:

    1. Download OrgDBOrgSettings solutions here

    2. Once you've imported the managed solution into your CRM. Open the solution and it should take you to a configuration page.

    3. Scroll down until you see the "TrackAppointmentsFromNonOrganizer" area and add the specific setting.

    4. Click on the Edit button on the setting again and then change the value from "false" to "true"

You should now be able to track appointments from another CRM user who've organised it.
