Production BOM - "Total Cost Price Per Unit"

On a Production BOM - Why is the "Total Cost Price Per Unit" pulled from different locations/fields on the Released Product?

When looking at the "View Calculation Details" on a Production Order, The "Total Cost Price Per Unit" is sometimes pulled from the "Manage Costs" fast tab on the released product via the "Price" field or via the "Cost Objects" action ribbon and the "Average Unit Cost" field.

What causes intel to calculate into the "Average Unit Cost" field on the Released Product?  What is the setup?  What is the setup for the "Average Unit Cost" to populate?

What causes the BOM to grab one field and not the other?

Thank you!
